About the Hubbard Foundation
David Hubbard, MD is the founder of the Hubbard Foundation. He is a board-certified neurologist who spent the early part of his career in pain management and drug development. While earning his undergraduate degree, he majored in Philosophy at Yale, received a Masters in Counseling Psychology from Stanford, MD from University of Connecticut, and his neurology training at Albert Einstein College of Medicine where he was the Chief Resident. He is a founding member of the International Society for NeuroVascular Disease (ISNVD.org), where CCSVI pioneer, Dr. Paolo Zamboni, is past-president.
Dr. Hubbard's original vision for the Hubbard Foundation was to investigate the neurophysiological foundations of consciousness and meditation, including their influence on brain functioning, health, and peace. The Hubbard Foundation uses fMRI to conduct this important research, which measures changes in blood flow to brain areas associated with specific brain functions.
Dr. Hubbard's vision changed direction in 2009, when his son, Devin, was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. The Hubbard Foundation is now dedicated to discovering more sensitive ways to diagnose and track neurodegenerative disorders, so that intervention can be administered earlier, before the onset of inflammatory lesions. The Foundation is currently focused on improving scientific understanding of Chronic Cerebrospinal Venous Insufficiency, which preliminary research indicates may be a precursor and/or great contributor to the development of Multiple Sclerosis.
It is too soon to know whether the study of CCSVI will synergize with the Foundation's research on meditation and consciousness. However, it is possible that healing MS and other neurological diseases will include lifestyle changes, such as regular meditation and dietary improvements.
